		<description>
Thirteen

All I want to do

Is start my prime years again

Probably seems dumb to you

But that’s what I want to do.

“Regrets I’ve had a few…”

Fuck it I’ll list them.

I always stood on the sidelines

Never really got involved

Never learned to skateboard

I just bought the clothes.

And those years when I was

Completely out of my mind

When I was thirteen

When I was twenty-nine.

And those years in between

Always overthinking everything

All those years in between

Always overthinking everything.

Six weeks used to be a whole summer

Now it’s just a month and a half

Time moves so fast

Try to look forward

Hindsight is just past.

Times I lied to seem smart

Times I got caught pretending.

Like when I said I’d read Das Kapital

And moments later got found out.

And those two girls in that Berlin nightclub

I should have gone back with them

Instead of fighting in the street

With those drunk businessmen

Giving it the big’un again.

And those years in the desert

Overthinking everything

All those years in the desert

Always overthinking everything.

Six weeks used to be a whole summer

Now it’s just a month and a half

Time moves so fast

Try to look forward

Hindsight is just past.

We were spanning time

Don’t tell me

Don’t tell me.

I really don’t mind

Don’t tell me

Don’t tell me.

In another life

Don’t tell me

Don’t tell me.

You could have been mine&#38;nbsp;

Don’t tell me.

		<description>Idiot Son

Up till dawn

drinking Canada Dry&#38;nbsp;

Hangover

to last the rest of your life. &#38;nbsp;

History repeats

First time it’s a farce

Second time’s the same

but with fewer laughs.

Backwards speak

Telling porky pies&#38;nbsp;

Lipstick on a&#38;nbsp; pig &#38;nbsp;

I’ve lost the will to die.

Turn around

Thinking: ‘Where’s the court jester?’

Look at the throne
(Oh shit.)&#38;nbsp;

The idiot son

Of an idiot son

Of an idiot son

Of an idiot son&#38;nbsp;

Of an idiot son

Of an idiot son

Someone up on high, said,
‘yeah, he’s the one.&#38;nbsp;

He’s the one.
He’s the one.’

The devil is

in the lack of detail.

Away with words

and a skill for betrayal.

Double Dutch

speaking esperanto

Pig latin.

Mumble like Marlon Brando.

But you’re not Marlon Brando.

You’re the idiot son

Of an idiot son&#38;nbsp;Of an idiot son Of an idiot son

Etc.

The Midas Touch

but the opposite

Everything you touch

turns into shit.

The ears of an ass&#38;nbsp;
Hear the strings of a lyre

Drink the blood of an ox

Climb on the funeral pyre.

Let’s all jump in the fire.

For the idiot son
Of an idiot son Of an idiot son Of an idiot son Etc.

Up till dawn

drinking Canada Dry&#38;nbsp;

Hangover

to last the rest of your life. &#38;nbsp;

History repeats

First time it’s a farce

Second time’s
the same.

Skeleton key

a skull ring
a magpie

collect-ing shiny things.

A lifetime
told in trinkets

brass knuckles

and gold teeth.&#38;nbsp;

All my best ideas
were once someone else’s.

Sifting through detritus

and diving for pearls.

Every-one has a plan

till they get punched

in the face.

Every-one has got time

until their time runs out.

Telling

other people’s stories

like they’re your own

uh oh.

Funny Ha-Ha

Funny Peculiar

Did that tickle

your funny bone?

It’s not the size

of the dog in the fight

it’s the size of the fight

in the dog. &#38;nbsp;

Every-one has a plan

til they get their

ear chewed off.

Every-one has got time

until their time runs out.

No nose.

No eyes.

No hair.

No skin.

But my skull will be grinning.

My skull will be grinning.

No nose.

No eyes.

No hair.

No skin.

But my skull will be grinning.

My skull will be grinning.

		<description>Ghost Train

This ride won’t stop for you

You left the Funhouse

You didn’t want to

Ride the Roller Coaster

The River Rapids

The Helter Skelter

I’ll meet you

Under the

Ferris wheel...

Candy floss rots your teeth.

The Hall of Mirrors

On the Waltzers

In the Tunnel of Love

Harts and Diamonds

Pendulum above.

I’ll play

Ladder Climb

I’ll play

Coconut Shy

With you

With you

Even if we never win anything

Before we’re through...

Me and you.&#38;nbsp;

Wait in line for the Ghost Train

Wheel of Fortune. Ride the Hurricane

Head for the Wall of Death

We’ve reached the entrance

It’s our turn next.

I’ll play

Ring Toss

I’ll play

Milk Bottle

With you

With you

Even if we never win anything

Before we’re through

There’s me and you.

		<description>Captains of Industry

How do you become a captain of industry?

Or the captain of your school football team?

I was always in the C-team.

C did not stand for “captain”.

It didn’t stand for anything.

Which is something close to nothing.

But you learn to pretend to smoke cigarettes.

And pretend to not hold onto regrets.

And winter dreams.

How do you become the captain of a pirate ship?

Like Captain Morgan or Captain Hook?

Chasing shadows but afraid of blood.

Relentless as a ticking clock.

Lost as boys and lost as men.

Going away means forgetting.

But you learn that you can’t outrun time.

And you learn to forget what you once had in mind.

“Long ago there was something in me.&#38;nbsp;

But now that thing is gone.”

Like winter dreams.

How do you become a captain of industry?

Or the leader of a Great country?

This is just a question.

I don’t have an answer.

I don’t know the next line.

I don’t have a punchline.
